NextEd is a class based program for young adults age 18 25 who are ready to take the next step toward living independently Skill Building Through skill building experiences emerging adults will explore how to best use the relationships connections and resources in their lives to be successful in a more independent setting Self Directed Living NextEd utilizes personalized goals flexible supports resource development hands on learning video modeling and virtual reality to work toward self directed living Hybrid Program NextED is a hybrid program with both virtual learning and in person skill building In person sessions utilize a residential space to practice skills
Hybrid program using both in person and virtual learningServing ages 18-25Is broken into three 10-week sessionsEach session covers three of the Nine Pillars with resources, including virtual reality, that can beaccessed after hours or when the session is completeParticipants can attend one, two, or all three sessionsFunding is provided for St. Louis City and County residents by DD Resources and the Productive Living BoardNextED is a post-secondary activity offered by the Next department of the St. Louis Arc thatprovides skill-building experiences for independent living. The NextED curriculum is research-basedand founded on the Nine Pillars of Independent Living developed by the St. Louis Arc. The programutilizes personalized goals, flexible supports, resource development, hands-on experiences, andmodeling through Virtual Reality to work towards selfdirected living. Through NextED, emergingadults will access the skills, resources, and supports they deserve to live interdependently in thecommunity and living situation of their choice.
